The F1000 operates on VHF frequencies, which are best suited for outdoor use, agriculture, and rural areas. The F2000 operates on UHF frequencies, which are far superior at penetrating concrete, steel, and dense urban buildings.
Is this radio compatible with digital systems? No. The F1000 and F2000 series are strictly analog radios. If you require digital (IDAS/NXDN) capabilities but want this exact same physical radio body and waterproof rating, please check out the Icom F1100D/F2100D series!
Can I use my existing 2-pin earpieces with this radio? Yes. This series uses the standard Icom 2-pin connector.
